Medical Day Case Unit Coming to Shipston

A new pilot trial Medical Day Case Unit is to be located in the old Ellen Badger Hospital building.

A Medical Day Case Unit (MDCU) is a fast-evolving model of care assisting with hospital flow, preventing ward admission and improving patient experience.

Ellen Badger Medical Day Case Unit Operating Model

• Open 5 days a week from 8am to 4pm
• Consultant led model (Consultant on site 1 day a week/ACP 5 days per week)
• Ambulance attendance enabled
• Patient Transport Service and Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Services available to transport home.
• Initial treatments and procedures offered include: blood tests, iron infusions, blood transfusions, Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments, OPAT service, NMAB

• Ongoing discussion with partners, specifically Shipston Medical Centre, on the service development
• Expected to go live on October 6th
